/ ABOUT our chapters
The University of the Sciences chapter of the Society of Physics Students is very active on and off our home campus. We host a number of events every semester for USciences students, including Astronomy Nights, Liquid Nitrogen Parties, and game nights. We also hold several outreach events every year at local high schools, after-school programs, and the Philadelphia Science Festival. Our members consist of a diverse group of physics and non-physics majors, who all have the desire to bring science and physics to the community and develop themselves into contributing members of the STEM community. In addition to receiving The Marsh White, the Future Faces of Physics, and the Sigma Pi Sigma Chapter Project awards, our SPS chapter was also recognized as an Outstanding Chapter by SPS National for 2016 and 2017. We look forward to welcoming the other chapters from Zone 3 to our university this March!

Rutgers
The Rutgers University chapter of the Society of Physics Students chapter has a very strong presence at home and is looking to extend our reach outside of our local community. For our SPS chapter, the SPS Zone 3 meeting is the perfect opportunity to start participating in SPS on a national level, connect with other SPS chapters in our zone, and share exciting ideas and activities aimed to benefit physics majors as well as students of other majors. Our main activities include hosting physics talks, barbecues, trivia nights, and the annual RU SPS Banquet. This year, we’ve added new events to our agenda, including the High Energy and Astro Code-Alongs and Physics Coffee Hours. We’ve also created the SPS Undergraduate Lounge as a study space by renovating one of the unused rooms in the Rutgers Serin Physics Building. Our goal as the RU SPS Chapter is to give members the chance to explore and learn about physics, connect with other students, and have fun overall!
